Online advertising is much the same as traditional advertising, only much more targeted.
Online advertising comes in many forms, from the main search engines such as Google, Bing etc, to social media and independent websites.
In the digital age these platforms have the ability to know what people like, what they are looking for and when. Which is great for the advertiser, as your advert will be shown to people who are actually interested in your product and service – not just everyone!
Benefits of online advertising:
- Highly targeted
- Considerably cheaper than traditional print advertising (you can even set a daily budget)
- Huge reach, you’re not confined by geographical location
- Measurable, by comparison with traditional media you can see which adverts are working and which ones aren’t. Giving you the ability to quickly modify your adverts to increase conversions.
There are numerous options for online advertising, but I’m really not a big fan of bombarding people with annoying adverts (mainly because I hate it myself). Depending on your product or service is I generally advise advertising via search engines, social media or on a website that is relevant to audience.
Before doing any online advertising I would also recommend that you make sure that the landing page on the website you are sending people to is relevant to the advert. Nothing worse than clicking on an advert only to not find what you are looking for!
